An insect is a small, air-breathing arthropod, or invertebrate with jointed limbs, segmented body, and an exoskeleton made of chitin. Insects are of the Insecta class. They normally have three legs on each side of their body. This is a picture of a grasshopper. This picture was taken outside of my house in Birmingham, Alabama.
