The female cone contains ovules that when fertilized by pollen, becomes seeds. Female pine cones tend to be larger than male pine cones. Unlike male pine cones that produce pollen, female pine cones produce seeds. This picture was taken on the campus of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.
